I haven't been doing as much fishing as I should lately, but I got these guys week or so ago...

The gills and crappie came on a small chartreuse clouser, and the green sunfish on a bugger.

Those greens can be aggressive as #ell. Fun to catch.

The problem I have using flies for panfish is I catch soo many small fish. It's hard to get larger ones at times without having to rifle through 15-20 small ones. And let me tell you, I've caught some really really small sunnies on the fly! LOL!

Use bigger flies ;)
I catch my best sunfish on small clouser minnows about 2"-3". I like to rig a two fly setup with a clouser on bottom and a jim teeny nymph higher up. I catch good numbers of fish to keep things exciting but I also get more bigger fish.

Sounds like a good idea. I may try that this weekend. I have a few clouser minnows laying around. I'll keep you guys updated. :D

i was fishing with a dahlberg diver that I tied myself with a 8lb tippet and probably broke off a 12lb bass and later I see my fly in the middle of the pond :irked: and another time i caught a 7lb carp on a 3wt and thought it was going to snap but I got him in. But I generally hunt for sunfish and bass with flies I tie myself.

^^ That's also something that has been on my list of things to try. I have a kit but just haven't had the time yet. I'd love to catch a decent sized bass on a fly I tied myself. Very cool.

^^ thanks, the only bad thing is that it is very time consuming for making deer hair bass bugs and it is not any better that I am very particular about how I make them. It took me 90 minutes or so to tie the one I lost, I used to sell them too but with school I haven't had time to tie.

I think I'll start out with basic dry flies... mayfly patterns - I shouldn't be able to mess those up too badly. :D
