Awesome pics fisher!
I too have some creeks nearby like that chalked full of brookies.
I love how stealthy you need to be...and how aggresive the fish will smash the surface.

Thanks man!

I find myself enjoying the small streams more and and more...there's something special about them.

I'm going fly fishing for some golden trout tomorrow! I'm gonna catch a bunch of little guys like this one-

Trout don't get any better looking than these little California Natives.

Been fly fishing a little creek (trout creek) by my house after work each day, lots of small brookies, a few browns (two of decent size, 14" and 16" only got a pic of the 14") and only 1 rainbow so far, all on a dry and of the same pattern, haven't been taken many pics but I got two so far.

Here's the fly, beetle pattern

Here's something adorable I saw last night, some new born ducklings following a juvenile duck, these ducklings were the size of cotton balls. ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1341596493.218585.jpg

Sorry I uploaded the wrong pic, the brookie was caught last year

Holy fly materials batman! Looks like I've got some accumulating to do, lol. I love the look of that bunny fly, I'm definitely going to be trying to tie a handful of those soon.

What do you use for a leader when you are fishing pike btw? I can't seem to find any good info on good leaders.

PS - I like the Shock Top cap too. Good stuff. :D

A lot of the time I just use straight 0x flourocarbon for a leader...I've also used some of the tie-able wire leaders. I get the most bites with plain tippet, and rarely get bitten off. The wire works alright too, but I seem to get less bites and it can get kinked up. This winter I started using 30lb flouro as a leader when ice fishing, and I was really impressed. That's probably what I'll be using from now on... Lots of people use 30-60lb flouro...

And shock top is my favorite beer ;)

I wanna catch a golden so bad! I know of one place here that has them, and its quite a hike! It's also a decent drive for me...some day I will make it up there though!

Tell me about it! It's gonna be a one day, 440 mile round trip! I'm leaving my home in Orange County and driving for 3 hours up Interstate 395 to Lone Pine. From there it will be another 30 minutes of driving and a climb to 10,000 feet. The Golden trout wilderness is found at the end of Horseshoe Meadow road. Luckily for me, there's no real hiking involved as CottonWood creek is just a few steps off the main road. The creek is fairly small but choked with Golden Trout. Here's some photos- of one of my favorite little "fishin' holes", Horseshoe Meadow, and the another of the view from 10,000 feet.
