That's an awesome picture!!

They are doing great - out about all the time and pigging on pellets. The bigger male started displaying to the females today, and the females are becoming more territorial. I think the warmer weather really helped. Water temp is up in the mid 70s now. I unplugged the heater in the 90 yesterday and will move them in a day or two :)

Bring some more back!! Get some celidos too :D

If its forehead would stay just like the one in Ken's picture, that would be the next fish on my list. Unfortunately I don't like the look of it when it's all swollen and full of fluid. (I know, that sounded terrible.)

lol I hear you, but if you consider it a behavior, it's actually fun to watch how they change head shape depending on their conditions and mood :)

Just stumbled onto this thread and I'm glad to see the balzanii we caught are doing well. The ones I brought back are still very skiddish but the big male has had no problem telling the other gymnos and pikes that he owns this one pot that's in the tank. Peter you should definitely go on the collecting trip next year! I'm trying to save money to go again even though I have no more room for fish as of right now!

Very nice pickup. I too have also found the swollen head thing a bit unattractive. Although I have always been quite interested to the species.

Looking forward to seeing you spawn these guys.

Thanks guys :) They moved into a 90 a few days ago and are eating well. Hope they become more active soon when it gets warmer.

Sorry for the crappy pic - had to focus manually and it's a lot harder than I thought!
