I have done both, with large set-ups. I prefer the Gar for various reasons.... Overall for me they are a more interesting fish.

ive been feeling the same way towards my gars lol. i can watch mine for a long time with out getting bored. i cant wait to pick up another one TOMORROW :headbang2

im not voting lol.
i like how ancient both fish are...i just think gars get too big for my liking...aka not realistic to have 1000g tank for one. :p

Aro for me. Graceful swimmers, yet there's no doubt they're a beastly monster.

Haveing kept both, the arrow only a few monthes.. I chose my gar.. there is no doubt they are both fish worthy of keeping. But my Gars personality and general behaviors won our household over. My gars are alot less skittish then my arrow was and they always look like the wheels are turning while they kinda sit there and peer at you... they're not just "On" during feeding time. granted if I ever have the room to house an Arrow, and keep my gar I will likely pick another one up. IDK how others do it, but I had nothing but aggro keeping the 2 species together.
