what do YOU think happens to the current annual global human activity related output of 7 Billion tonnes of CO2 per year or what it does?

from what I heard and read most scientist agree that CO2 is a greenhouse gas. there has been a large debate as to the effects of adding CO2 to the atmosphere. some scientist say that the earth will end, some say moderate changes, some say negligible effects. there is no consensus

Dr. Ball is not the only scientist who believes that there is not going to be a catastrophic result from adding CO2 to the atmosphere. if you watch the film you will see many others

I have never said that I agree or disagree with scientists on any side of the argument. I have been saying that the jury is not out.

So, we are agreed that CO2 is a greenhouse gas, and no-one disputes ( as far as I know) the amount of CO2 put out by human activities or the projected 50% increase expected, is there not logicaly bound to be a cumulative effect? especially when the prime 'carbon sinks', the worlds tropical rain forests, are being decimated at the same time ( the Amazon rainforest is being stripped at the rate of 10, 000 square miles per year, or 1 football field per second)

again, I do not have a background in this field, and as far as I know neither do you (if you did I assume you would not be trying to argue with non-experts). So, I will not engage in a discussion about the validity of your theory. It would be meaningless since neither of us have the credentials to back it up.

If you go through the 'swindle' docu name by name on google you will find very few are actual climatologists, Ball is a fraud ( according to U. Winnpeg) the second guy is a physicist etc, another who is a legit climatologist is suing the docu makers for gross misrepresentation and the makers themselves admit that they set out to be deliberately contraversial.
The debate is good, it increases awareness and sharpens and focuses each of our arguments, at least for those who are interested in facts

i posed this question earlier:

if someone receives funding from a group (such as as oil company) does this fully discredit them? hmm... then would a scientist who received funding from a group who benefits from global warming research grants also be discredited?​

if an oil company found that a prominent scientist agreed with a theory that benefited them wouldn't it make sense for the oil company to get his word out?

The lounge is full of 'non fish related items', it is what it is there for. Politics and religion are always contraversial subjects and usually are matters of subjective faith rather than debates of logic and facts. But this kind of argument is futile and completely off topic.


It is good to have an opinion, it is even better to have an opinion that can be supported with data.

Again, I apologize to anyone who feels their intelligence has been insulted. I have certainly felt the same way quite often reading some of the factually incorrect arguments in this thread .
