These aren't new, they have been around for several years now. They are just shortbodied fish which occur naturally in wild. While these where were probably inbred to create more, its nothing worse than anything else you see in your pet store.

Its not a "lab fish", nor are they hybrids btw :hitting:

Yeah, someone already posted a link to an older thread about the fish that I did read, that's already been covered lol,and I did not say that they are hybrids.

I know you didn't. Was just putting it out there for that one probable person that will chime in saying they are crossed with a BP to get the shape.

I hope no one would draw that conclusion. The fish would be uglier than it already is if it were crossed with a blood parrot

Can't really tell due to the agle.

Genetic mutations! not lab bred or artificially produced. Just a genetic mutation, something nearly all plants and animals go through. Its how things adapt and change. Some genetic mutations are successful in the wild some not. So in the wild these would most likely fail and be out competed so its genetic mutation does not get passed on. But in captivity, this genetic mutation is interesting to there captors, and there genetic mutation is kept alive by short body enthusiasts, so in a way, this genetic mutation is an adaption to captivity ;P
