The Lungfish Identification Thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Would some one please identify this guy? I've had him for 4 days, and everyday he turns more and more yellow, and his marking are getting darker. I've been looking at this guy for over 3 years at my lfs just sitting in a 7ish gallon tank of a 1000+ gallon system. He was located by the overflow for the system, and easily missed if you didn't already know he was there. I was told they were also feeding him the fish that would die throughout the system day to day. I had to change his future. For the last 3 days he takes between 6-9 earthworms a day until he refuses food. What is entriging to me is that his gills are still as long as they are considering his age (that I know of) and his size (16 inches). It is currently in my quarantine tank while it's 125gal finishes it's cycle. Sorry for the long drawn out post. Thanks in advance guys.20180709_223245.jpg 20180709_222821.jpg 20180709_223415.jpg 20180709_224043-1.jpg

Yes sir. Would you say it is Protopterus annectens annectens or Protopterus annectens brieni?
I believe it's annectens annectens. But I could be wrong.

Why is there a lungfish identification threat? the last time I checked there were 4 species that all dont look alike.:grinno: one is missing in the pic. The lungfish most under is extinct.
