I wouldn't call my filtration over the top but your average Joe would think I am crazy

300 gallon tank total water volume probably closer to 450
4300 GPH reeflo hybrid pump for around 10x turn over
100 gallon rubbermaid sump with two 7" 200/100 micron filter socks and over 1,000 nylon scrubbies under a drip plate. My return section has a bunch of freshwater plants in it including 2 swords 6-7 vals and a bunch of java moss
Then I have a 40b with 55 or so lucky bamboo plants growing in it to hopefully remove some Nitrate. My main sump is plumbed into my bathtub drain and I drip 3 GPH of fresh water after the chlorine is removed by a "whole house" carbon filter.

and I will be adding 2 ultima 1000 bead filters in the very near future

Edit: oh yah I also run a 40 watt lifeguard uv running at 200-300 gph

nice system.
how are the bamboo plants working?

Hard to say, only been in a few weeks but they seem to be growing pretty good

I just removed a large ray so I would contribute my Nitrate drop to that more than the bamboo but I am sure it doesn't hurt

very cool..i like that idea...i wouldnt mind trying it one day

i tested my home water and its 7.6ph
so the coral is all gone....

Stupid topic , 220 reef ready 40 sump , 10 gallons bio balls ,3 times turnaround , very happy rays = 40 gallon change twice a week

300gal tank, trickle tower filled with approx 300 pot scrubbies into a 90gal sump, with more free floating scrubbies, and a mag drive pump. i get a 4x turnover from the sump.

i also keep a fluval 405 hooked onto the tank just to keep the bacteria active in it, should i ever need to move it to a new tank or replace filtration on a running tank should something happen (broken parts, etc).

good idea..do you have pics of the trickle tower?
after i took out my coral and CC i went to the dollar store and got 150 scrubbie's and put them in my sump.
i also put 4 air stones under them so they can get more air a swell.
