Well, cycling a tank with feeders and oscars is not the way most of us get ready for rays. Two it's kind of the wrong forum for filtration, may be your just looking for normal people who disagree with ure attitude and start fights

IF I was to decide to get into rays with a 125 gallon I would have taken a completely different approach, but given the argumentative nature of this thread I decided to just keep my opinion to myself. Didn't seem like it was really a "how should I do this?" thread but rather a "look what I did thread". With "a broken heart" lol

I took the same lots of filters approach when I got into keeping rays and now view things way differently.

There used to be a guy on these forums that always preached the "KISS" method and no matter how hard you fight it, he's right.

"The solution to polution is dilution" is another saying that would work well when talking about housing rays in a 125. I have rays in a 180 gallon tank. That tank's system is 500 gallons and drip fed.

125 seems a bit small for 2 rays. Unless u keep hystrix or just pups short term.
I would always aim for over the top filtration with rays.
I have 225 uk g. And aim for 10 x turnover using:
2 fx 5's, 1 pro 3, 1 eheim 2260, and 2 internal eheim 2260.
All cans are full of just bio media rings or substrate pro.

I think roughly 2200 g /hr turnover.
And I still do 30-35 % wc twice a week. Don't bother with uv, carbon or polyfilter. Just good old wc's and prime. Wc, wc , and more wc's.
Imeant add any more rays as I already got a 9 inch p14, and 2 nr 6-7 inch p13xp14 pups.

both of these are dead on. complicated does not mean efficient or effective. KISS method is by far the best advice i was given for my rays.

also why i go a little overboard with my sump and media. the solution to pollution is dilution. a larger volume of water will be able to withstand ray bioload much better than a smaller volume. add in more surface area for bacteria to be able to grow, and you are laughing.

U can't take constructive criticism? Then ur I'n the wrong section. By the sounds of this thread and Ur other threads u shouldnt keep a ray until u no what ur doing. I am not trying to be rude but what i am saying is straight up. Ppl pick apart ur set up take it as a good thing many have tried different sump disign and are giving u the heads up on things that don't work or that are useless. Don't get so defensive cuz i am sorry my friend but lots of what is posted Is nonsense. Again i am tring to be rude man.

i took your advice and bought a 50g rubbermaid and i am now turning my old sump int a wet dry.
its coming along pretty good.

There was several people lined up for the fancy Thai marbles that just fetched $2.5K/pr. You're talking crap about alot more people then me for spending good money on "motoros". There's a whole dang clan of us. Guess we're all stupid huh? Enough said? Or not enough?

It's kinda funny that you are narrowminded enough to think my big ol girl isn't worth it. The guy I bought her from turned down a nice Leo and a 400 gallon tank. I turned down an offer to sell her for $1500 not more then 3 weeks ago. That guy was willing to drive through several states to come pick her up. And like I mentioned before, I got over half what I paid for her within a couple months of getting her, so what did she really end up costing? typically investments with returns are good investments but maybe I'm mislead?

How long have you been around rays and you are still nieve enough to think there's set pricing? They're art. Alway have been, always will be. Only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. For you to judge what someone else "should" value something at only makes you look stupid.

the picture of that run of the mill ray in my avitar was taken 11 years ago.
it was the second picture ever online of hand feeding. i owned numbers 2-6. but i only kept the two best pictures.
i got them when they werent exporting many of them so it was a take what you can get.
honestly i dont care who your "clan" is..
if a motoro isnt crapping gold its not worth it. sorry.

and for someone to accuse me of starting fights...i dont go into peoples threads and start crap with the op when its none of my business....like you are doing now.

if you look at the threads i have gotten into " fights" with its with people i told were wrong..they took it personally...started called me stuff and i defended myself.
i do not start fights and i dont run from them either.
i have called people three names..
