The Meanist Cichlid?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I currently have about 20 large REds right now....only about 4 are females...and I'm running out of my match making options....

I would pick a 12" Butti over a 12" Dovii

well I'd hope so, a 12" dovii is a "pre-teen" whereas a 12" butti is definitely a fully matured adult.

It all depends on the individual fish, in all cases:)

I couldn't agree more. though I have seen a couple of times that exCichlasoma beani, on average, is one of the most aggressive you'll find. unfortunately they are so uncommon that not many have had experience with them. the Nandopsis species (vombergae, ramsdeni, haitiensis and tetracanthus) are no slouches for sure and neither are the Amphilophus (not the former Astatheros group though of course :D ).

:D

Meanest one i've had was either the jaguar(most likely) butterkoferi or convict. Now my orino and lenticulata or the pain in the asses. lent mostly, chases fish 3X his size

a 12" BUTTER is full grown?....Yanno, I think in most case you're probably right....I have one a whole lot larger than 12 inches.....but he eats like two 12' butters....here he is attacking my big red devil before the red devil grew up....this pics about 2 years old....

My male Dovii is really a tough guy.....the toughest fight I've had with all my cichlids was in my 150 gallon tank....I have a six inch Flowerhorn, a six inch Zaliosum and when I introduced the new Dovii it was like a bar room brawl....the three of them started fighting and would not stop....no winner, all were dominantly aggressive.....I tried to break them up with a net and they'd all team up after the net....Then go right back to where they left off...I tried like hell to get them seperated till the faciatus ran them all off....I now have them all in different tanks which is also a pain in the ass.....

if that was to me, I said a 12" buttikoferi is a fully matured (not fully grown) adult. I know they can, under optimal conditions, reach 16". I was speaking more on their maturity and attitude at those sizes. :)

Hands down Butterkoffi IMO - I had them from small to large and they all turned into tank killers....the biggest one was easyily 16" big and thick beatiful fish but I fookin hated him, and I couldnt find him a home....

You get a matured Koffi in the tank, no other cichlid will survive....they want to dominate the tank - I lost a lot of great fish during this period

The only one that survived was a red tail cat because it just grew an inch a day

so it was just those two physco's alone until the red tail got to big and I found home for the Koffi

My Green Texas hates all fish
