I'm getting BOSCH wires. The lst set was car quest, they sucked, they break.

I noticed that LOL. Bosch should have dielectric compound in the boot, and if not, should come with a pack of it. Be sure to double check though.

year old spark plugs means nothing.. those are TOAST. all depends on the conditions inside the engine, actually mileage means nothing to spark plugs if the engine is running efficiently.

Bosch is good for LOTS of things.. spark plugs and wires isn't one of them. as much as i truely dislike GM products, the best wires on the market are AC Delco, and they DO make them for all makes of cars. (remember you heard that from a FORD person, you may never hear it again).

Just noticed this thread.

I do a tune up on my car every one to two years. Basically, that is what you are doing. You want to replace spark plugs, wires, distributer cap, and rotar. Like what was mentioned, DO NOT MIX UP THE WIRES. That will cause your sparks to fire in the wrong sequence. Replacing the cap, rotar, and wires are fairly easy to do, just take your time. I broke my rotar the first time I did it trying to hurry. The wires *should* be different lengths, so it will help when taking them off and putting the new ones on.

Good luck!

Hey, I was just wondering. I'm doing all this stuff to make my car run better but, I am going on vacation in a couple of weeks(hopefully) and it's a journey of several hours, requiring several tanks of gas. Is their any aditives you recommend that will do good to my car?

If you want to boost gas mileage check your tire pressure, clean your MAF (mass airflow sensor), clean your throttle body (remove carbon buildup), clean your O2 sensor, and replace the air filter if needed.

I don't do additives...

And I fully agree with the other statements. Get new plugs (what, $2 each?), replace the cap and rotor, and make sure wires are in the proper order.

Good luck.

:iagree: those are the best and simplest ways to boost your gas mileage. you might also consider finding yourself a quality alignment shop and have your suspension properly aligned.

Lucas Oil fuel treatment is the best (IMO) to get off of the shelf shortly followed by Sea Foam (it's a product, not literally sea foam lol).

Lucas fuel treatment really is good stuff. I typically only use Sea Foam in small engines, but it will bust carbon from larger engines as well. Keep in mind that it'll be more concentrated in smaller tanks.
