After some second opinions here, who thinks male an who thinks female?
Its about 4- 4.5" an not aggresive at all. Sorry for the shocking picture this fish is always hiding.

definitely male, look at all that blue spangling on his side and green cheeks :) gorgeous male at that :) is yours wild caught? my little guy is only 3in and he is f1 and he is front and center begging for food anytime i come near the tank and has done this since he was like 1in and his siblings did the same before he pulled a highlander move and killed them all

I'd say you have a male, i would find some pics of some the same age to compare color and fin shape, but looks to me his finnage is more pointy than round and hes pretty bright, and yes i just made the word Finnage up *copyright

You should post a pic of your little guy. Hes an F1 he used to beg for food all the time along side my O about a month ago he cracked it and stopped lol I re arranged the tank might have done it. I'm keeping a close eye on him i've read they go rogue at about 6" onwards.

looks male but at that size its still impossible to tell. have seen males look like females and vise versa especially at that size. most small festae have blue spangling when small then females dissapear so the only thing saying male to me is the green face but have also seen that on females as well just not that often
