I'd say you have a male, i would find some pics of some the same age to compare color and fin shape, but looks to me his finnage is more pointy than round and hes pretty bright, and yes i just made the word Finnage up *copyright

Sorry I dissagree You did not make the word "Finage" up. Betta people use that word all the time. I have used that word before many times when talking about bettas. Sorry its not a new word nice try.

Oh and thats a really pretty fish by the way. I have no clue what sex it is.

Its a tough question! Over the last 6 weeks its actually developed spangles on the fins when I first got the fish it had only one or two if that helps in sexing lol what size do males develop there nuchal hump?

festae dont get nuchal humps, what males have you seen with them?

and yeah i will try and get some new pics of him today (at least i call it a him since he is all spangly and was the dominant one out of his siblings and males are more prevalent than females, still too small to tell for sure though)

and thats weird about yours getting all shy after re-arranging the tank, i can re-arrange all i want and catch fish I'm trading with nets and everything during a water change and not 30min after its filled he will be right back at the front, i have heard festae are usually shy though so i guess i just got lucky, and yeah you really have to watch out for aggression with these guys, my little guy is the smallest in the tank and never starts fights but he definitely still has no problem standing up for himself if someone is picking on him

Female and Male Festae have long fins and colorful too

;)

It's a FEMALE!
stupidest thing i've heard all day.. it's true.

some are hard to tell even at bigger sizes. But how this guy gonna pick a blatant male out of many to say female?

This one got all the male traits
