It's Unipac "black" sand although it's more of a grey colour. They keep wafting it into the filters so I'm thinking of changing it.
These cichla are doing great. I've done a couple of extra water changes to help with the sudden extra load on the tank. Water quality is now spot on. They are all feeding nicely and I've seen no aggression. Obviously it's early days but hopefully all goes well.

Ha, everyone loves the airstone. I just bought it for the new cichla. It's a 8" disk run by a 480gph air pump. The circulation and airation from this thing is wicked. I sold four 6" orinos a few months back. I wish I'd had a growout tank for them. I will have to get searching when I get a bigger tank.
