Great work!, I too will jump on the wagon to install the 3d background down the road. I'm not a big fan of the thick foam atm. i like the thinner 3d background that Justin when I saw it when I visited him last. i was curious as to who picked the 180 from Salem, I had pondered to long on that 180, :) so many tanks, what are you keeping, mostly CA?

I agree. I haven't took the plunge on a background yet. I feel the same way about the people that build the lumber stands and don't skin them. 2x4s aren't that pretty and the stand is part of the presentation.

Thanks! Pretty much all CAs, and a couple tanks of Corydoras. How did your final go? I'm at sylvania and just finished my last final this morning. Chemistry.

You'd hate my stands then. :)

Oh. No offense. I'm curious how you block out the stand when viewing. I like admiring the whole thing. I just modified my canopy and put on my 180 I got to replace a 210. I'm actually contemplating putting glass doors on the stand, so the filtration is viewable.

I'm just not exactly sure how you suggest one aspect of the aquarium presentation is worth it and upping the ante if you're skimping in another area.

I guess I'd equate that to restoring an old car and putting an old rusty set of wheels on it. Like I said no offense. I'm just interested in your perspective and giving mine. :)

Well my 225 has a nice stand and canopy but the doors are kind of janky. I'm just not good with carpentry at all--never had a shop class offered in school and never grew up around it. When I move I'd like to get matching stands that are the same height and style, but it's just far down on the list. Tanks, backgrounds, filters, heaters, LEDs, quality fish stock, all just seem to take priority in my house.

That's cool. I'm sure the way you look for things to improve upon after you get everything else done you'll be looking at those stands and thinking well I can see where I can improve on them. Lol. I guess I'm lucky with understanding mechanics and figuring out how to do things. I know my wife said she doesn't like buying stands, because she would rather see what I can come up with. I guess that means they must not turn out too bad. Not that I haven't made some mistakes. Lol. It sucks I don't have a garage, so I have to build stuff outside or in the middle of the living room. Lol

I have my 225 blocking a door, 180 blocking a large window... Tanks in corners and on bookshelves... No garage. :(

2x4 stands look more mechanical and better imo. really allows the fish to shine. to me the tanks are what im looking at and dont pay any attention to the stand. clockworks tanks could be on cinderblocks and make most others tanks including mine look like crap
