Only 8 days ago you had just discovered ATFs

:banher::banher::banher:

Well, yeah, i just got some and put them in my pond. I removed all my cats and stingrays and sharks. It took me forever even with four friends helping me.

Personally, I think the tank posted originally is one of the nicest bare tanks I've ever seen. I also like the beautiful way in which form and function have been used to enhance one another. I think a square tank like that would look great in the centre of a room! It would definetely look better with stuff in it, and Im not a fan of squid keeping lol but very nice tank anyways.

I also really liked the one Mystix posted that looked like a bunch of linked up fish bowls, the ones that Dread posted, and the one with the holes in the middle (really frickin cool!!!). It's kind of neat if you think that your Python (or similar system) operates on the same exact principles (albeit much more simply lol) that the tank there does, amen to science!

In the interest of getting the thread back on track though, I will post some pics my mom e-mailed me from her engineer pal. I dont know if Id say this is the most beautiful tank, but the title of the e-mail was the world's largest circular fish tank, and judging from the pics, I don't doubt that it is. You'll note that the tank is actually being constructed before the building! Enjoy!

This blurb came with the e-mail:

Radisson SAS Hotel in Berlin
The world's largest cylindrical aquarium placed at the lobby of the
Radisson SAS Hotel in Berlin, the 25 meters high AquaDom is the
largest cylindrical aquarium ever built.

Filled with about 900,000 liters of seawater, it contains some 2600
fish of 56 species .

Combined with a vast amount of sandblasted glass, the giant AquaDom
gives a transparent-like feeling to the lobby. Guests and visitors
are able to travel through the aquarium in a glass-enclosed
elevator to reach a sightseeing point and restaurant under the
glass roof.

Two full-time divers are responsible for the care and feeding of
the fish and maintenance of the aquarium.
Some of the interior rooms and suites look out over the atrium,
offering "ocean views" of the AquaDom.

Construction.
The AquaDom was opened in January 2004.
It cost about 12.8 million euros. The acrylic glass cylinder was
constructed by the U.S.Company Reynolds Polymer Technology. The
outside cylinder was manufactured on-site from four pieces; the
inside cylinder for the elevator was delivered in one piece.
The Aquadom is the largest acrylic glass cylinder in the world,
with a diameter of over 11 meters, built on a 9 meters tall
concrete foundation.

That's just nuts. I sure as hell wouldn't sit under it, though-despite the German engineering. Look at that hotel room view... just imagine what those maintenance divers must see.

Great example of German engineering. Amazing. Terrific. Better than my favorite; but really, this is not in the same class as the tank i posted and should not be compared to it. but i like this tank more. so yes, i'll take this one.:nilly:

Every extant shark species is marine. Just fess up.

I never thought of that, so true though with the beds being right there. Hope people close their blinds :p.
