Animal guy's videos of rooster above are a great example of a large head contributing to the balanced look of a fh.
 
any fish bred with a deformity on purpose is a monstrosity to the hobby IMO lol. fat headed goldfish, flowerhorns, shortbody everything...BAH! lol

Its not a deformity its a gene carried on from midas. The hump is gene is natural occurring on the fish below and its these genes that make the flowerhorn what it is today.

But it isn't natural. Not every single midas will grow a large head. You do know fh have been selectively bred to have larger than natural size nuchal hump right? The "naturally occurring gene" has been promoted through selective breeding to occur more than what is natural.
