I cant believe it, my NTT hid itself beside the heater, and now it got a burn mark.. .... .....

Cant believe how stupid he was.. .... ....

The burn mark will eventually heal up? OR gonna be last forever? He .... .... no comment... sigh**** :irked:

A wuss will always be a wuss.. hide almost 24/7 behind the driftwood.... sigh..... I should go try keeping Oscar next...

Get some protection for your heater, even other fishes/rays will be burned by these uncovered heaters.

I wouldnt have imagine a fish that I heard from many people that it acts like an oscar and have his own personality would have been stupid enough to burnt itself...

If it was a stingray, thats a different story

I have rbp, rhom before, they were shyier than this NTT and they dont hide behind the heater

I dont blame him, Im not getting rid of him (the scar), just saying.. out of all the places he can be, he was stupid enough to hide there

Just like you said, if your kids get burnt by playing fire, at least you will scold at them for being stupid ;)

heater gaurds cost like $5 when people buy the heater why not buy the gaurd it makes no sence to me

i wouldnt shout at my kids if they got burnt i would feel real bad that they got scared for life because i didnt take care of them shouting at a 2yr old will have no impact it will scar the kid even more

My featherfins used to sit by the heaters and burn themselves. For a while I didn't know why they had open sores, sometimes bloody. I moved the heaters and they stopped doing that.

because some fish doesnt need the guard, its just a waste of money (eg. have you seen a neon tetra get burn by a heater?)

What if the kid is 5-6 yrs old? :D

if you cant afford $5 on a heater gaurd you shouldnt be keeping fish at all

a heater gaurd is just as important as not takeing the heater out of the water when its turned on

the gaurd is not just for the fish its for your own protection when doing tank maintanace it is easy to brake a heater

if you didnt go out and buy a gaurd as soon as this happened you are more of a fool than the NTT

People always think they dont need the garud until its to late

when you go into a fish shop to buy a new fish do you think right that fish will be safe and that one wont as you dont have a heater gaurd
it would make more sence to put a $5 gaurd on then you know what ever fish you buy will be safe

to try to make yourself feel beter hear you are to blame NOT the NTT its a mistake YOU made which has scared the NTT now all you want to do is sell the NTT on just because you wont go out to get a heater gaurd

even with oscars you need a heater gaurd as they are clumsey fish which may brake the heater

why would you not want to put a guard on the heater it makes no sence

I'm thinking that metal heaters and heater guards are a good idea for larger fish as I've heard of them breaking heaters.
I have one metal heater and am hoping to upgrade to a second one eventually.

Then, like with your fish, his keeper should be held accountable.
