before you get yourself into something you can't handle stop posting disrespect in my threads...i have vast knowledge in these fish and many many others...i have read many many books on them and taken bio classes aswell as fished my whole life...

long story short you don't know who you are talking about so just keep your fingers off the keys...when i was 14 i thought i was a know-it-all aswell, i grew out of it, maybe one day you will also

i will keep trout again, but i will have a nonexperimental chiller setup before i do it...

Well, it was an awesome run. Thanks for the thread sbuse.

make sure you start another thread when you get more trout, trout are a passion of mine as well, and I hopefully will have a tank of them someday. I look forward to hearing more when you get some as it can be difficult (as you said) to find information from others who have kept them. Waiting in anticipation of your new thread :-).

it hopefully shows some people that it can be done, but you need to get everything in line with backups to it all.

hinesight a chiller is the best way to go about it. the fridge is a good deal in theroy, but not practical nor relieable. i also say that any first time trout keepers should go the way of rainbows or browns to get some exp. first as they are much more forgiving then brookies are.

i will for surely have a thread going for the next trout adventure. i still plan to try to make my own steelhead fry this spring, but we will see how it will go.

If you get anymore let me know, we might be able to help prevent the fungus, in the NC mountains there are populations of brookies that never get bigger than a few inches and are very temperature tolerant. I have thought about getting some of them at some point but right now the mountains are pretty far away.
