Nice brook Trout....have you thought about keeping darters, they need cool water also and are very beautifull fish (who also need a chiller and moving water).

and by my last post a was referring to the sweets brookies on the first page.

i keep them at 54-64f roughly...today i let it get to 70f to see how they do...i have been doing daily wc to keep the water cold...if they contine to do great at 70f i may reduce my wc...it is yet to be detrumaned...

i have thought about it and i will add sculpin aswell as darters...they will all be wild caught so if/when the brookies eat them they wont be all bad..

Try to get your chiller hooked up soon. The daily water temp fluctuations will be harmful over a long period.

i know, but i am working on it...funds are my main issue right now...i just took a hit on my rays...i am keeping the fluctuations to +-10f witch in a small creek is normal daily...i still don't want them to have to go through it, but as of right know they are doing fine...i am also keeping the fluctuations in time with natural changes..eg..after dark cooler then warms up in the day...

everyone is ok...they are still eatting and showing bright colors...when i used my laser to check the temp they tried to eat the laser..lol...the temp was 67f...

they are doing fantastic...the largeest one will only eat feeders, it strikes at the shrimp but spits it out...the middle one will take some shrimp, but prefures feeders, the smallest one will only eat shrimp...they all will take crawles from time to time aswell, but if something else is in the tank they will eat the other things and leave the crawlers...they have no problems

Great job man......thats definately awesome, one day Im going to make a chiller setup for some local darters (my wife says as soon as i win the lottery); Im definately impressed with the Brook Trout.....beautifull fish!
