The new setup

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Depending on the fish, I like to add no more than 2-3 per tank, per visit. However, discus and cardinals are another story lol. Last time I got 30 cardinals in one shot lol. I'm down to 5. Damned pbass...

hey, welcome to mfk..! am thinking ya still have a little too much gravel in there, but it is definitely better than the first photos ya posted. with all the fish ya have in there now, you are about "topped out" in relation to the amount of filtration, space and what not... a 20 gal is ok to "grow out" a couple angels by the way, but is not suitable for them for longterm... take care and good luck with yer fishies!!

The current level looks good, ugfs function well using medium gravel like that at about 1 1/2"-2 1/2" of gravel. remember that you should not vac more then the top 1/2 of the gravel or more than 1/2 the gravel at a time. One or two betta sized fish per week is a good rate for additions, this lets the bacterial growth keep up with the population. Using just the ugf you want to stock a little more lightly than with a combined filtration set up. Fot a twenty g I would go with around 5 betta sized fish, 2 fish up to 5" long, a dozen small tetras or diano sized fish, and a couple corys.

:( , i thought it looked good with the extra gravel for that small a tank. It gave it a different look.

Here are some pictures with the fish i have in there at the moment, I'm not sure how much room i Have, im also getting hoked up with a great deal on a 55 gallon tank, :woot: so its quite a bit bigger, and already established, but if you guys could checkout my contest post... Here

40lbs of gravel for a 20 gal tank Damn I only use a lb for every gal of water.

setup looks great though

I have a few other lights in my fish room so I just turn my flash off.
