The balas are about 7 years old i would guess. They are hogs forsure they eat whole earthworms, whole shrimp, or whole smelt lol i got them from pat at amazon stingrays. He had them in a 450 their whole life

I run two 4800 hydrives i have to dial one of the pumps down though so the tank dosnt overflow lol

Another option to the magfloats that might be a bit cheaper is to get some large rare earth magnets online and then cast them in acrylic resin found at the hobby store.

I did this to make holders for my eheim 2262 intakes instead of suction cups as well as egg tumbler holders.

Super strong for their size which is about the size of a few stacked quarters and will hold just about anything up.

Crap thats some huge turnover! Is that for all your tanks or just the 450?
 
I do high turnover on all my tanks. I have two 4800 pumps on my other 450

Lights are comming thursday, im gonna hook up the reactor soon and add some fishies
