I don't argue for one second that we should not search for methods to free our dependence on foreign oil. I also do not believe for one second that we are motivated by oil, and oil alone.

Regardless of whether or not we have 1,000 trillion barrels, or 1 barrel, we NEED to develop alternate methods. We NEED to develop some way to grow our own fuel in a feasible method. For the sake of our country, and the sake of the world (Ozone layer, anyone?).

My points are made. Please do not take this as a personal attack on you, or your intelligence. It is not meant to be. I am simply offering a different view on what is happening.

We agree on several points, and those that we don't we can kindly agree to disagree, no offense taken here either.;)

That is not the media's responsibilty. They are there for ratings only. They are purely an entertainment source, that uses political tones.

I know some might disagree with me but i think nuclear is a good option a bunch of countries in europe are over 90% nuclear, all we really need is to have something that will cut back the amount of fuel needed for electricity

I totally agree. We haven't built a nuclear power plant in this country in over 30 years. Technology has greatly improved since then. The new types are more efficient and produce less waste then our old plants. And we should definitely not be burning gas/oil for electricity.

Good points here V_F, lets see how this get addressed in the upcoming race. I think it will be used as a talking point, but I'm not sold that anybody (current canidates) are serious about exploring that option.

people saying that electric cars are so good for saving gas... guess they dont know how we get electricity

anyone know how much percent nuclear is used to make electricity???????

Here's the skinny on nuclear waste: it isn't waste.

If you were to gas up your car, drive it until you burned 10% of your gas, then pulled into another gas station, then drained the unused 90% and called it waste, and then refilled the car...that would be what we are doing with nuclear fuel.

We just can't reprocess the spent fuel right now because of the Anti-Proliferation Treaty. However, treaties don't last forever.

Oh, by the way, if we were to reprocess our spent fuel, we could power our nuclear reactors for 200 years without mining any more uranium.
