Do they get stressed and in tanks that aren't big enough? A 24" arrowana can be kept in a large fish tank but why can't a 24" sturgeon be kept in the same size tank? Mine is only a few inches, I'm thinking if I kept it in a tank and only upgraded tanks when he needed it, he would be healthy but wouldn't get as big? Theres sturgeons in the overstocked fish tank at Bass Pro Shop and they seem fine. The tank looks to be no more than 1000 gallons and taller than it is length or width.

It can be done but an arowana can turn much better than a sturgeon a large tank is needed cause they need clean water and are constantly moving too small of a tank leads to a beat up nose which isnt good for sturgeon. I would say that it increases your chances of problems down the road.
