the answer is that you should save your mom

logic behind that is, you can always have another wife, you can always have other children. but you can only ever have one mom

though it would suck to be in that situation, having little ones myself, i'd save the kid if it all comes down to choosing. if i was one of the ones that was gonna fall to my death, i'd tell the one on the ledge to save the kid too

Depending on the gun... If it was from a distance like you said it was (although you didn't state exactly how far the perimeter around the car without footprints was), the gun would probably be pretty powerful. Powerful guns leave more than just an entry wound.
