I had one of those incodents today that I'm kicking myself over now and wish I had stepped up about it. I was wandering in petco's fish department looking for beef heart and plants when I overheard who I assume is the manager talking to an employee. I've delt with the employee she's great and I know she adopts a lot of the rescue animals that come in. She was getting yelled at for feeding the birds something, forgetting what but odviously by the other womans tone of voice she was in deep for feeding the birds better quality food than corperate allows. The employee was quoting off why the food was better for color, metabolisim and all sorts of stuff but the other one was stonewalling her with "no, corperate rules state that its not allowed and do you really think the next owner will feed their birds good food?"
Its nice to see that petco thinks highly of their fellow animal keepers. Its also nice to know why they were charging for a rescue fish. They had a foot long common plec that someone dropped off last month... I was looking for a pleco and expressed that I had a tank big enough for the monster but the nice employee had to call the manager to ask about it to come back and say it was indeed an adoption fish but it was also $20. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of their rescue fish?
