This past june, I purchased a pair of Egyptian spiny mice at a reptile show (I had been looking for them for awhile :headbang2). I got an older pair hoping that it might eventually become a good first time breeding project.

Well, just this evening, I noticed that the female is looking very pregnant, I and expect she'll give birth in the next few days:eek::D!

Just in case no one knows what these guys look like:

Interesting. Are they called Spiny mice because their hair looks kind of like spines?

Yes, they are. The spines on the back don't just look sharp; they're quite prickly to the touch as well.

These guys are the most inquisitive and entertaining rodent I've ever kept:D!

Hhmmn! Don't look as spiny as I last remembered them! We had at the pet shop I used to work at and it took forever to get rid of them. They bred faster than we could sell them!

We have that problem at our shop...someone there likes them too much, the customers really don't. I won't elaborate on that, though. :grinno:

Watch out for mommy when she gives birth, they have a nasty bite when they think their babies are in harm's way.

sweet , if u dont mind , how much were they?
