Looks like a gibby. Yea, they poop. A lot! More then you? Kind of odd. IMO/E, it's the wood.

I agree. IME my royal has made more of a mess with the less dense driftwood that I collected in the wild compared to a piece of mopani that I bought from lfs. oh, I also agree that it looks like a gibby, but I dont think it has enough rays on its top fin. Peckoltia (L-012),maybe?

The shape of his snout does resemble a rubberlip. Any way you can get a pic of him rasping on the glass? The rubberlips mouth is shaped more oval than other plecos'. I doubt he is a gibby, as I have a sailfin gibby with a dozen dorsal rays. He poops up a storm too!
You could give the folks over at plecofanatics.com a try; they enjoy ID'ing plecs.

I dont know what that fish is for sure. But this is a pic of my albino sailfin. Count the dorsal rays in the fin. Way more dorsal rays on mine

mine has 7 and I'm not counting yours LOL. Theres a few different types of sailfin plecos though.

The only pleco by the common name "sailfin" is the gibbiceps according to planet catfish.com. I would like to know what other pleco you know of that goes by that common name,and what is its L-# ?

lol my pleco i got he is a common pleco also and i got him from petsmart too. He is about 2.5" and he is a poopin machine too. Man... what the hell do they feed those things at petsmart lol

Lol, I actually have 2 of these that came out of the same tank and only the one is messy. I have tons of other common plecos that don't do this.
