what are you feeding your guys? damn 6 months to grow 3 inches?!?!?!

and i have one that i know is going to be the runt of the group. he eats fine but is visibly smaller than the rest

mostly feeders and krill. i used to do big wcs too once a week.
but i did not power feed those guys . i think you can expect these orinos to grow 1/2'' to 3/4'' a month if you do good feedings everyday but i could be wrong tho

but from now untill they hit 3 1/2'' will be pretty fast i think but at 3''+ will; slow a lot

When I got him he was 3-4". He's now about 5". I'd say he is now growing about 1" every 3 months. It's just like the kelberi. My kelberi is growing slow.

I think it is impossible to get your orino's to catch up to azul's. Azul's grow faster and you can't change that. There's no point limiting what you feed your azul's because you run the risk of stunting them and why would you want to slow their growth . You'll probably have to keep them in separate tanks until the orino's are about 8-10".

But everyone said that azuls grow faster than kelberi's yet my kelberi are bigger than my azuls. They were introduced to the tank at a smaller size and are on the same diet, and in fact, in the same tank..only difference was that the kelberi loved food sticks while the azuls only pigged out on bloodworms when they were about 2-3". I guess its a big difference since food sticks would be much more nutritional but now they're all eating the same stuff and growth seems to be equal among them.

agreed...my kelberi are actually growing very quickly.

if i ever do get these orinos...im putting them on a full feeder diet.
my monos are fed more than the azul and kelberis and i dont think theyre going to catch up.
time to divide the tank into 2...

Wow Tim, absolutely stunning. Is that from Rapps ? And where was it collected from ?

Yeah I think it's from the last batch of venezuelan orino's that jeff had a few months back. I purchased it from a UK dealer who regularly does orders from Jeff Rapps.

damn, my guys look really pale due to a low PH, I actually lost two today. PH was at 5.8, R/O water, my kids were bugging me and I never buffered it back up. It's fine now, but not really showing any colors, whats your PH at and param's. Anything special you do to get those colors standing out ?
