i really dont know why your all so obsessed with getting them big so fast. its not a race. I dont have any proof behind me but i would think in the wild they would only find food as they do not very slimly not excessivly. in moderation, maybe thats an aspect to why they look nice?

So??
No proof, no arguement.
Please define excessivly and in moderation?? How much is too much or vice versa. :D

i belive that just like people eating exessivly can cause problems not in a quick manner but in the long run it may effect them some how. in the wild they visit a turbulence of food so its kept in moderation. bottom line, power feeding can casue health deffects.

IMO. not proven so but just what i think, or do would you rather view only what you think?

and IMO power feeding has no negative effects. both views arent supported by any scientific evidence, so we'll just leave it at that

These dudes are Roothless! I seen a Barb that I like and wanted to know how they do with other fish aside from their own... So I went to a LFS and seen a Bala Shark (as the tester before I purchase the more expensive barb). I tossed in the Bala after acclimating him and he was swimming... naturally was drawing attention to the ever so hungry Orinos. The Bala shark is about 4"... and the orinos are 2-2.5" now. As yesterday went on I would check on the Bala/Orinos... everything was all good. Fins in place, not to much activity except the Orinos looking
hungry...again:ROFL:

Woke up this for work at 4am to see a Face-less Bala Shark hardly swimming. You couldnt even see where the eyes use to be. it looked like the Bala Shark got his face stuck in a Power head and swam to tell about it. No, lips/mouth, no eyes.... his face had some meat but you can see right thru to the otherside of the tank... you would of never ever known where his eyesokets went. I felt bad and tossed him in thr freezer....

I guess there goes my Idea of a Tankmate for now:eek:

broooooooooo! i had the EXACT same thing happen, except it was with a feeder goldfish. i tossed in one feeder goldfish about the same size as the orinos. they immediately swarmed him and kinda left him alone when they realized he was too big to eat. a few hours later i see them picking at the goldfish's face. his eyes were friggin GONE!!!!!! it's funny how they can tell apart their own kind and they all kinda gang up on the goldfish.

i wish i could have seen the start of the frenzy. would have been cool to see how they decided to attack it :)
Today i found all my dithers dead. They were descaled and headless. They were like twice the size of the biggest one.:WHOA: Do u think that the aggression will become a problem between the pbass or just against others that are not orinos

IMO power feeding can be bad for a fish's health if you keep feeding them the same thing over and over.
even worse if you feed crap foods.

I've been throwing in 50+ guppies in with my five orino's, and let them eat what they want, when they want. When they hit 4-5", it'll be one to two feedings aday.

Oh my cichlaryan. youre so wrong and im scared people will give in to your advice.

pbass are one of the top predators of the amazon. they are constantly eating/foraging in the wild because of the warmer waters and because there are so many things to eat in the amazon especially when youre up there on top of the food chain. have you ever seen a wildcaught p bass on a lure that looked like it had nothing to eat for a few weeks/months? i'm just saying, the amazon contains more than half of all tropical freshwater fish soo wild bass from the amazon are probably gulping down large cichlids as we speak.

p bass need to be fed! maybe you should cut down the amount of food when they hit their full size but i would imagine the majority of people here do not have full grown bass.

if anything, repeatedlly starving/fasting pbass would lead to health problems in the future. Ever heard of stunting? ive seen some stunted bass on here. Do not starve your bass. its probably the worst thing you can do if youre trying to grow out your bass.

:iagree: nothing sounds dumber than starving your pbass for the sake of....well...nothing! no worries, i wont give in to advice of a little kid ;)
