The reckoning

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ya I sat in front of it for a while last night. Was kinda nice to just look at it and not work on it. Now if the Bio would only develop instantly and I could throw all the fish I want at it. Lol.

Thanks. Bass are good fun but can't keep smaller and larger fish with them. Soon would only be bass and no smaller fish. I love to breed fish and have lots of all sorts of stuff so I plan to just mix it all in and then add the main attraction which will be a bunch of stingrays. That is really what this tank is going to be. I was thinking this female kelberi might be good with smaller fish but since She was wild caught She could not turn down a smaller fish.

I wouldnt mine owning that bass. Great set up.

I was thinking chain or cable or something plastic. Plastic chain was a good thought but cost 4 time what this cost me. Gives allot of flexibility with everything. I got the top downstairs today I plan to work on lighting today when I get home from work. I plan to start with 6 bulbs and see how Well that will light it. I also need to install the lights in the stand. I have a light switch ready for show lights and one for the lights under the stand.

funny.. I hung my filter socks with chains like that too.

Here is todays work, I still need to finish everything off with wood but here is how it is for now. I am running two lights off a timer and those will run from about 9am to 9pm, then when I want I have a light switch on the wall, SHOW LIGHTS, when I flip it on 4 more lights turn on and light the tank extra well. I worked hard matching the pictures to what it really lookes like. At about 4.00 for a box of light bulbs it is super cheap and they should last a long long time and are easy to replace. COSTCO is where I get these light bulbs from. I really like it and love that over all most days I will use just 36 watts of power and when I want 108 watts of power. On a 10x4foot tank, lol, I plan about twice that or more on a salt water tank once I get one up and running, that will be my next adventure later after this is fully done. No leaks, (knock on wood) everything is running great. Fish are well. Im going to wait for a bit then thorw allot more fish into the tank. I want to make sure its all ready and break her in easy.

I love the canopy. You may want to put a feeding hole or small door in the front for quick easy access and not have to lift the bigger door up just to feed.
I absolutely love the canopy, I'm going to build mine the same! Can you tell me the dimensions of the wood? 1/2" ply? 1"X1" frame?

No problem, Ill get you the specs, its all light weight, I do agree it might be nice to have a little door but this hood setup is not bad at all since the hinges lock open it makes it really nice for working on everything. One problem I had was last night I was waiting for the timer to trip the lights and I must not have set it up right, so had to move stuff a bit and crawl back to it and I hope when I get home from work it will be working properly.

Wow the lighting looks really great. Are you covering the tank openings or the lights at all to prevent moisture buildup on the fixtures?
