You have to watch multiple treble hooks. Happened to me once to. That's why I like Spinnerbaits, no worries.

Did you really have to have surgery? Or did they just snip the hook and pull it out?

A man after my own heart to make sure photographs are taken of the wounds.

"Antiseptic? Screw antiseptic, get the camera!"

Yeah, Surgery using a wire cutter! The female doc and two nurses couldn't cut the hook. They flagged a stocky guy in the Hall Way who came in, used both hands to clamp on the wire cutter to cut the hook off and then the doc used a long nose plier to pull the barbed end out. State of the Art surgery in the U.S.A. lol

I think they over dressed the wounds too. They were only two tiny punctures, a band aid would have sufficed.

I hate when that happens! I was learning how to use a baitcaster years ago and one of my Rottweilers grabbed the lure. I threw down the rod and ran to help him. He started backing up around a tree and the rapala lure popped out and landed squarely in my shin. I had 5 hooks in my leg that had to be removed at the ER. Hooks hurt when they are in the bone. I never practiced casting around my dogs ever again. Still have the lure as a reminder.

I would have kept this lure as a souvenir/reminder, too, but the doc was too quick to toss it in the biohazard bin with other contaminated stuff.

karma man... you take from them, its coming back to hurt you... :(

Maybe! but not likely. It's more like the law of averages. After a couple of hundred of times handling fish with treble hooks, something like this can happen. Actually surprised me that it look that long before something like this happened. Besides, I'm way overdue with a Tetanus shot. Like 20 years overdue. lol

I think he was trying to say "See it f-ing hurts don't it" lol

That statement works for the both of us, The monster PB and Me. It's a reminder to everyone to work carefully with treble hooks.

ARAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only when me or anybody else moves the hook. Otherwise it looked like I have a Silver ornament on the back of my hand. lol

I bet guys who get their bodies pierced can relate.

You got that right. I actually started using gloves last year after several near misses. I just got too comfortable this year again and ignored the gloves which I had with me when this happened.

Yeah, the wire cutter and long nosed pliers were not shiny like it was made of surgical steel. They looked like they came from the maintenance guy's tool box. lol
