Did you get "chipboard" or OSB, they are not the same thing and get confused quite often. "chipboard" is prob not a good choice for this application, whereas OSB would be fine
OSB is Oriented Strand Board
its not a by-product like other particle boards, it is an enginnered plywood that is made using small diameter fast growing trees. the trees are cut into small rectangular pieces and oriented so that each layer has it axis in perpendicular directions and held together with a water resistant resin
nope its particle board and it doesnt need much strength because it is going to be set on top of the concreat floor. yea now that i think about it i am glad i started and ran out of money rather than waited to buy it all and found out i needed to save more because theres no backing out now. the pond will be 8' long 4' wide and 2' deep. were gonna start building the box tonight. thanks for all your help.
oh yea i almost forgot. Dr.Jeo when you said return did you mean the one connected to the pump or the one taking water out of the sump back into the pond. the pump will be inside the pond pumping water into a barrel above the pond and then another pipe about in the middle of the side of the barrel will return water to the pond.
Thanks yes its gravity feed comming back to the pond so no overflowing durring power outages. i wasnt planning to put a valve on the pipe going back to the pond but if you think i should i will. what would be the benefit?
If your pump doesn't flow enough or the filter is flowing to much, you can use it to adjust the dwell time.
I make mine with larger return pipes and a valve incase I change pumps and they have different outputs (sometimes you just get too good of a deal on ebay ).
Just a suggestion, but that's my reasoning behind it.
yea mine willl have a larger return pipe and now a valve. i didnt get to build it last night. we were kind of busy. but if not before i am sure we will build it this weekend. thanks Dr.jeo for your help an keep it coming.
