So I see a lot of people asking questions along the lines of "can someone explain to me how to make a sump" I am a firm believer that the best way of doing that is for the individual to research and learn HOW and WHY rather than just being told what to do. There are many great sump designs and a whole lot of knowledge on this forum, and I think it would be a great resource if we could pool that knowledge and make a sort of catalogue of different peoples sump designs, so every time someone asks that question they can be directed here to do their research.
It would be good if posts could follow a similar format to provide a bit of basic information about the system, and also include a link to another thread where people can ask specific questions about an individuals design so that this thread remains more like a catalogue and isn't cluttered with pages and pages of Q&A. And hopefully if it gets enough info it can be stickied here so it is easy to find! I know we already have the "DIY Filter Compilation" thread, and no disrespect to WyldFya but half a dozen links isn't much of a compilation. There are so many interesting and different sump set-ups here so we should be able to build this into a very good resource specifically on sumps. I'm not really sure how many Salties we have on here, but maybe for simplicities sake we should keep it to fresh-water set ups for now.
And just to repeat it once more, this is NOT a discussion thread. If you have questions about someone's design follow the link in their post or send them a PM to ask it.
