So, a 9' diameter 200G stock tank would work?
Cause I'm buying one of these for my channel cat, and I've always wanted an RTC..
not much height there. it would work for a while.

depends on how well you insulate the shed or just the pond... Check out Necro's thread with his 300 Gallon when it was outside... Awsome insulation
it will be in an insulated shed. so im not really expecting wild temp fluctuations.

Should be good to go then :D... It's always cheaper to heat the space than to heat the water don't forget... I have a garage that I use for 1 of my fish rooms that I keep at 90 degrees all year long and I never have to heat the water in the tanks... they are all constant at around 80-81

i doubt this will be a small enclosure. the shed will prolly have to measure 50x30 or so. to accomodate the ponds. i think that the building of the shed will be a part of the total cost, as the ponds will also cost a good amount.

may be able to keep it at 30-40 feetx30 or so, idk, i was looking at a 20x10 above ground pool, and i thought that an actively swimming koi would need more space. so that pond would be slightly larger.

fair amount imho for me ponds are typically much cheaper than aquariums. a brand new 300g aquarium would cost three times what I spent on my 3300g pond. and I'm digging it to a 6000g pond this fall for only a hundred or two more.

the shed however.......ouch

i dont want to risk something like these koi thefts ive heard of lately. plus if i move north, i think fish would prefer to not be frozen.....

oh I definetly understand that, just sucks you have to. winters in AZ are mild to say the elast so I don't have much worry there but some local hawks have taken a notice to the pond which has led me to my conclusion that I need to dig deeper and keep my dog close.

as for koi thefts, not much of an issue in for my koi in AZ as we're way too far from the japanese bloodline to be worth much.
