Like Oscarcrazy said, it depends on the school district. School usually starts (for kids) the first week of September (in Oregon).

Oscarcrazy, does your school always start so early? We were going to start the week before Labor Day, but all the parents pitched a fit, so now kids start September 8th.
Where I went to school, I always started about a week after my birthday, so about the 3rd week of August. Now that I'm in college, it's usually the 1st or 2nd week of Sept

Here in NYC school starts on sept 9th
but we get off at the end of june...i think other people get off a month earlier

My students arive Wed.

We have a parent open house on Tuesday.

Of course we were blessed to have new hurricane windows installed this week, so I had to drain and move the aquariums (what fun!). I have been slowly putting things back together all day (and probably all night and all day Sunday).

Wish me luck!

Been in school two weeks already. Almost got hit by a car doing the cross walk AND already prevented a custody battle kidnapping.

Its gonna be a really long year....

How many children is there per school/class where you are?

In my school there is 230 children age 4-11 and 30 in my class. Last year I was in a class of 37 ahhhh

I'm sad. The teachers come back next week. School starts September 2nd this year for us.

As an IT person working for the local school district I'm one of the small number of 12 month employees (yes, here in Wisconsin we differentiate between staff depending on school year versus year round).

I still have a lot of work to do before my portion of the load is done for this fall. This means I cram all week long (as I wait for software deployments to be created/installed for testing) in relative peace. The battle of last minute emergencies begins next Monday. :nilly:

Here in Wisconsin we try to limit class sizes to no more than 30 if we can. We can go over that at times due to changing enrollment in the school year. Overall sizes vary on subject matter at the upper levels for electives, while overall student enrollment combined with district regions dictates elementary class sizes. I believe the minimum class size is now 23 (for my school district) with exceptions made for the elementary buildings if they are close to that number. Most classes are now at the upper end of 30 kids per class.

I go back on the 24th. Open house is the 28th and school starts on the 31st. Whatever happened to starting after labor day? This is my 9th year and is my observation/evaluation year. Every year seems to be getting more challenging. The children arrive with less and less and we are expected to move bigger mountains. I love what I do, but it is killing me.

We do not start unitil Sept 8 here. I will be in on the Friday before.

Now class size is no more than 30. Now I have a class of 45 before, but have also had class of 8. It all depends. Most of the time I am mid 20s.

We differenate employees by certified and non-certified. Techs although often have certification are non-certified type because of certified means in an education field.

Found out the kidnapping attempted mother was an parole, just out of prison and high on drugs. My Principal says its not over and to be ready for round 2.

WTF?!?

I have 11 kids in homeroom, 10 in aquaculture, and 15 in my largest class(school starts Wed). I have my first home room this year and I'm very excited. I even made a giant Fish Tank Bulliten Board. I'll try to get pics up.
