Teaching is a job that will always be needed. Its stable with lots of time off. You dont make tons of money but there are trade offs. Think about working as a lifestyle. You spend almost your entire life working, so why not enjoy your life?

Most teachers I know have a significant other, hence their income is supplemented. If you are single you can still afford a nice condo or small home depending on the area you live in...

Thanks guys :)

I really wanted to be a teacher but I haven't been able to finish my school yet. I started when my husband went into the army, got my Associates then he got injured and got out. Now I'm working full time and can't find any schools for teaching that have night and weekend programs.:( Guess I'll be stuck in filing hell for a while....

Look into online schools as well. My wonderful wife, who is also a teacher, is currently finishing her masters with the Phoenix online program.

I'll rephrase that. What kind of houses do teachers live in? Are you living with your parent for the first four years, then get a small house? I know it's near the 75,000 range, but, as said, I'm poor with finance vocabulary. I don't know what 45,000 a year is.

This is kinda funny to me. Last year we had most of the middle schoolers convinced we all lived in the same house like on the show Big Brother. Then we "voted one off" and he "lived" in his car. Gotta have a wacky sense of humor to work with kids all the time.

Thanks everyone. I found a couple online schools where I can finish my BA. I think I was getting myself confused becuase I've been fluxuating about getting my degree in Biology or teaching or maybe nursing. Part of the problem was that if I got it in Biology or nursing than my company would reimburse me. I've been looking at so many different schools and several different majors that I think I was going into informational overload. I took a step back and started my search over again just for teaching becuase this is what I really wanted to do. I just threw myself off trying to get my work to pay for it. After doing crappy office jobs for the last 10 years I know I would rather do what I want to do than compromise to get my school paid for.

Ok... Three weeks in. Today we had a student cuffed and arrested. Three more were suspended and they were all picked up by cops later in the day. That took care of 4 of the dozen highschoolers we have at the whole school!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately I work with the middleschoolers and we are a bit more crowded. Good news is my gt's bred in the classroom tank. Kids love watching momma herd the fry around the tank.

3rd week in it's Friday :D woo woo! Had a great week myself, the kids are really great and it's so cool to wake up Monday morning and be happy to go to work :D

I wish the teachers and students were still off. Getting semi-caught up now, which with our staffing level is all that can do, so things are improving.

Most people can login, do attendance, and all the good stuff we do electronically so the phone is relatively quiet. Well, at least those that aren't the 75ish with new data projectors that are without power because the electrician is far behind. The good news is power will be run before Christmas. The teacher's don't find that fact as being positive for some reason.

I'm not privy to the details, but the first expulsion hearing for a student is being setup now. An early start for that type of proceeding.

I got a free reeftank for the classroom this week (craigslist rocks!). Lots of coral, sweet light, and even a chiller. If I could get ahold of a 48" light system I would have enough for two reeftanks. Anyone have a pair of MH's they dont need?
