The truth about my age.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have questions for the younger members. = MFK recently changed some of the format things. Do you think this site is easy to navigate? And how long, after reading some of the Threads and Posts on MFK, did you wait to join? *And Happy Birthday early Tropicalfish34!* (I'm almost 48, wishing I was 20.:) ! )

k i dont wanna sound nasty but either you keep the gold fish and sell all the plecos , teras, and catfish, or you just sell the goldfish, and what temperature is your tank, its cuz goldfish are cold watr and the others are tropical,

and is everyone serious on there age , lets make this thread the post your age thread K,

My age is 15

Not to be rude to you, but Fantail goldfish ARE tropical goldfish. Comets are not, but do absolutely fine in tropical temps, which is typically like 76F. My pond reaches 80+, and they are fine.

I would not recommend giving advice about HIS stock, when you need to work on YOUR stock.

I'm 21 btw.

However OP, if you are able I am going to recommend 2 options: if you want to keep your current stock, upgrade to a bigger tank- 125 right now at the least- if you can't get an upgrade, I would most definitely try for some more exotic plecos that don't get so large (I had a 24+" common pleco), and I have comets currently pushing 12+", so I would maybe stick with the fancy goldfish, and try to find maybe a pond for the comets.

Your half my age and have been keep fish twice as long. That counts for something I'd say. As long as you do your research and make use of it you'll fit right in with a lot of the older members.

On a similar note, we had a 9 year old little boy visit Meadowview to buy some new pitcher plants last month. He could name and find every species, has grown several of them to flowering size, and knew exactly which species and hybrids were were low on. I learned a few things from him and I work with these plants daily! It's never to young to start a hobby.

 Never too young.... :headbang2 .......and never too old either! (I'm thinking seriously about putting - 'you know who'- on my "ignore" list. ):)

dont matter your age. just think of how much experience youl have when you start making your own money and can set a budget you want for your fish! youl know all the stuff youl need so it will be way easy and fun!!!

In most cases age = maturity, the older you get the more mature and wise you get but.... thats not always the case, my friends sister for example is 31 with the psychological age of a 16 year old lol. being mauture is not about thinking or trying to act mature and trying to prove it on forums, maturity is something gained.

Fishkeeping is different for everyone and at first its more trial and error, everyone has their own Ideas and Theories regarding what should and should not be done. As for keeping a mixture of fish in the same tank, if it works then keep doing it. personaly i beleive in keeping keeping natives with natives, cichlids with cichlids etc but thats just me. do what makes you happy just as long as the fish don't suffer.

im 29 .

take this quiz -http://www.noanxiety.com/tests/mental-age-test.html just a bit of fun.

my results-

Your mind is 38 years old

You have a rather mature mind, typical of an over thirty who's gaining experience in his life. Write us if you enjoyed this test.

Cheers-

Dazz

that test thing is dumb. is says im "Your mind is 500 years old"

yeaaa.....ohhkayyy

Howdy,

Age does not matter, we all were young once. There is no driving force that equals the enthusiasm of youth or of the novelty of a new hobby. We are all here to learn, and experience does not come in book form. Lots of members have years if not decades of fishkeeping under their belts, and that's a great asset. But this experience is the more reason to not look down at youngsters but to pass on what we oldtimers have learned over a lifetime. However, this also means we're set in our ways and benefit from new points of view of younger fish enthusiasts. It all goes both ways.
