I have 3 9" rbp and they are wimps. The only way I can get them to eat in front of me is to injure their food(usually sunfish, or bluegill) I've had a 8" pike in with them he has had his tail nipped a time or two but he fights back. So they leave him alone.
 
Yeah, the common person who doesn't know anything about fish keeping thinks of piranhas as monsters. I mean, they are very vicious and deadly in schools, but when alone, they remind me of their more timid cousins.
