Rock bass are quite mean for they're small size.... even some of the sunfish are pretty mean as well.... Striped Bass are extremely fast and mean.... if you can find one.... i'd kill to have some!

The most powerful of all new world cichlids, the firemouth alone stands at the pinacle of power among American fish. Having bested umbees, dovii, flowerhorns, red terrors, trimacs and even piranha, the firemouth stands alone without equal in terms of its power and domination over similar species. It's remarkable given the firemouth's advantage that it didn't obliterate similarly situated species years ago. Perhaps geographic isolation is the reason. When Chriton killed a snakehead twice his size my local skeptic was convinced. The snakehead's carcass went into the same bind as the doviis and umbees before him. Some fish owners will never learn.

For sure the P-bass, dovii, jag and for a ambush predator I like the common wolf fish because if given the chance and he was large enough he would eat them all!

Firemouth. After having seen the firemouth kill a 60 foot sperm whale in a brackish water tank, Halsey knew that the Japanese were done for. Central command was planning to unleash the firemouth on the Yamoto except that the latter was already sunk with dive bombers. Doviis run in fear. Umbees tremble. And the pussy peacock bass runs in fear when the firemouth approaches. Nuff said.

I was scuba diving off of the Farillons. And this idiot boat was dumping chum in the water to attract great whites. Well there I was, 3 great whites, 20 footers the lot, when I saw them run with fear. A salt-water adapted firemouth, 5 inches long showed up, killed 2 of the great whites and ripped my right arm off. Now I sell pencils on 5th street. I used to be an accountant.

I made big bucks and had community respect. Then a firemouth killed my dog Louie. And I retired. Now, I counsel panhandlers on new begging techniques. I don't dare go to the beach anymore. There are firemouths in the sewer in NY. Killed all the alligators. Bit two seniors on the butt. Bloomberg has abandoned the strike to address the firemouth problem.
I don't see how anyone could put any American cichlid higher than the peacock bass species. If anyone has any question as to the awesome predation power that these fish hold, they need only watch Trust's videos of his peackock bass devouring some fair sized JDs in a matter of mere seconds. When it comes to pure predation power, they can't be topped in my humble opinion.
