I have always wanted a pangolin and almost imported one, also pink fairy armadillo...look them up, lol.
There was a time when you could get a platypus as a pet. But, they don't travel well and many died in transit. Trade in live specimens became banned and even zoos must obtain permission from the Crown to obtain live specimens for their exhibits. Said permission is only given after extensive inspection of the habitat setup.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard some where that a platypus has a poison gland and can inject poison with like a nail or something?
But I don't think they could be kept in a fish tank, no matter how big. I'm not an expert, but I watched animal planet a lot back when I was a kid and I believe platypuses need to spend time in land also.
I'm no expert on platypuses, but they would make for an awesome pet. They're so cute tho. I would be tempted to take it out and play with it, being a mammal and all. I don't really know if that's safe.
I did a little bit of reading and it turns out they are venomous, not poisonous. And they do have a stinger on the back of their heels. These little things just keep getting cooler and cooler.
