My Rid-x was almost gone so I ordered this list week. I'll probably just use the few tablespoons of Rid-x to help clean my plumbing (and apparently this stuff also works better than Rid-x for that original purpose.)

I already dose a sma amount in the 10g and I'm going to put the 1/4 teaspoon in after the water change.MVIMG_20200430_224616.jpg

Aside from cost, would this be the same as dosing sludge removing bacteria for aquarium use like Fritz 360 or Dr Tim's water away? I'm not located in the US and only have access to these aquarium use products. Have been using them for a couple of years and found that they do make a difference in the cleanliness of my tanks

I got lazy and didn't do a water change every two or three days this week and let it go 5 days. The detritus seems noticably less on the big sponge filters though after switching to Bio-clean. It's enough of a reduction that I won't squeeze out the big sponges today.

Yes, they should. All sludge removing bacteria used in septic products are generally from the same group of bacteria/enzymes used in products marketed for aquariums. Some may work better than others, due to various reasons (bacteria count etc) but they are all similar.

Hey, took a few days to read through all of this. Very nice work RD!

I have been persuaded to use a RId-x but I am in the UK and it ain't available. So I was looking on amazon but could only find tablet septic tank treatment not powdered. Then I found this:
Natural Rapport Gravel Cleaner

I was wondering why no one had taken initiative and commercialised the septic tank treatment into a fish tank treatment. But I think this is the same thing as the septic tank treatment, it says it contains bacteria, is 100% natural and uses enzymes. DO you guys think this is the same?

Does the bacteria in Bioclean compete with the good bacteria we use for ammonia and nitrites? I used to use ridx years back but thinking of giving bioclean a try. I have a 535g bare bottom running an ultima and two HMF filters. Figure this can help with some brown algae issues and reduce sludge buildup on my matten filters.

Looks like I should start out with 1/2 teaspoon even though my tank is 535g. Will I have a lot of debris leftover? I used to hate how ridx would build up in my bare bottom tank.

You should be using a media bag or mixing it with tank water first and dumping the liquid only in.
