I would stop watching the show if the kid became the leader, he's annoying enough as it is.
I think there are two characters who have good leadership potential, Daryl Dixon and Glenn. Both characters have shown they can get stuff done, are reliable and aren't just going to go around killing people without a damn good reason.
In the show not so much, but Carl from the comics is seriously BA
