And the reason they had to cut off Hershel's leg was so that he wouldn't get a fever and die, yes it is in everyone but it's only brought out when you die or get a fever. My question is, when there killing all the zombie blood is splattering everywhere and you'll see that most of them have there mouths open, how is the blood not getting in there mouths and would they get infected by that? or even in there eyes?

They are infected with the virus that returns you as a walker, but we mean like blood poison infection, that kills you, and you return.

I'm trying to explain this... Why does a bite give you this "blood poison infection," that results in a deadly fever but if you get zombie blood/saliva/whatever in your OPEN WOUNDS you don't get it?

I don't get how they don't all catch the virus, their constantly slashing heads up close, and blowing brains out, there's bound to be spatter, and all it has to do it make it into eye, nose, mouth, ear, open wound etc, not to mention when their rolling around with them and fighting!

Other then that best show of my generation! Besides cops lol.

If I had to guess I would say they cut it off to prevent an infection (not zombie but reg infection) from the bite. They probably dont have the needed items to stave off an infection.

And the non sterile axe cutting off an entire limb is somehow better? Lol. I'll take the 3" diameter bite personally...

I'd take the amputation, that bite is loaded with bacteria that will cause a guaranteed infection, your chances are higher with the Unsterile axe and dirty environment... Neither chances are great which is why its a surprise if he lives or dies.

That's exactly what I'm saying, even though they have the infection in them already wouldn't blood in the mouth give them the fever and death that a bite does?
