How come there are dead bodies that were eaten but they didn't turn? Like in the beginning when rick saw an eaten carcass in the hospital when he awoke but it didn't appear the body was shot in the head?

Anyway I'm on ep 11. There's only 13 ep in season 2 so I'm just about caught up. Can I read the comics online somewhere?
