Anyone who is considering buying the fish because of the add...is helping to place exceptional and vulnerable beings into the hands of Rambo wanna' be's. These fish are delicate in that their skin is really sensitive. They have smooth skin not scales. They can live to 30 years of age, but I've never met anyone or heard of anyone yet that has one even close. At the same time they will eat anything that is new and small while they eat out of your hands and twirl under your fingers. Ours is roughly 16 years of age. We also have a Pitbull rescue that some idiot put out as a dog fighter. As a result he has cigarette burns on his lips...go figure. Please let's think of the fish here...not the comic book add put out by a sensationalist.

It may not be visible when you just look at them closely but look closer and you'll see. It seems like just skin when you touch them, but if you have a chance to have a large specimen of a dead BGK, try to scrape the outer layer and you'll see tiny scales. Or you can use a microscope if you really want to see the scales in larger image. You are 100% mistaken. Lol!
