The wife said its too big

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm planning on just a very simple, natural aquascape. I know the black gravel isnt natural but it just looks good to me. I think I may put some dritwood in and that will be it. I have been reading that Oscars are messy, clumsy and they like to dig so I thats what I am keeping in mind

Do you already have the lights? If they are vho's you can use the clips that are made for them and attach it that way. I like the caopy, doesnt look too big either. Just counter sink those screws in front and cover the holes with wood putty then sand and stain. That will look very nice. Congrats on your diy.

I picked up a 4' ballast light that uses 2 'T8' bulbs. Thats where I am stuck now, I dont want to have bolts sticking up through the the top of the canopy but I'm not sure the best want to secure the light to the hood.

As far as the screws, I'm going to cover them up and paint the canopy black. I still need to paint the bottom of the stand where I added more center support

just tell the mrs that its not big enough, you show them an even larger tank, and say im gettn this, then she will whinge about that huge one being too big then you finally agree to get the *current* tank that you had in mind, ..

well that's how I ended up with my little 280gal :) it was either this small one or the big 8x3x3 tank, she put up a good fight and made a good choice with the 280 :P

It looks really nice. Make sure you have a glass top in between the lights and the water.

Thats funny, She actually wouldnt care if I got a 280, We saw one the other day at a lfs, They seem the same length, just deeper and taller. Were moving to a house soon and there is a good spot in the living room for one:cool-1: But I still wont want to get rid of this one!!

Well I finally figured out the best way for me to put the light in. I remembered there are bolts that are some what flat and round, there called carriage bolts. I picked up 4 and installed the light

you didnt use that windex on the inside did you?

Is that bad? I was planning on rinsing it out a few times and I'm going to let the filter work for a week or so before I put fish in it
