I got the stand by itself for free and I got the tank for 75. If you look the middle isnt painted yet, Thats because I added extra 2x6 support after I originally painted it. The stand is built pretty well but I was a little concerned when I got it. It feels much better since I have added the center support. The rest of the wood is jointed and bolted 2x6's.

I think Im almost ready to start my first tank, picked this up this morning

That's great IRoman, should be plenty filtration for that 125g. I have to congratulate you on picking a 125g for a pair of Oscars. Most people new to the hobby tend to use tanks too small for the fish they pick. You could even add more fish in there if you wanted to...

Don't know if you thought about putting a glass/plexiglass in your canopy, as you don't want the ballast to get wet. Oh and for the Windex, you can use it moderately on the outside of the tank (I use the non-ammonia one), but never inside. Just rinse it thouroughly, while scrubbing a little with a sponge. Whenever you clean the inside of a tank, use only water and elbow grease ;)

Thanks Cyclop,
I was originally looking to get a 55g and then I saw how deep they were, I decided I wanted to get a 75g and then I found the 125g for 75$ usd so I jumped on it. I didnt know what kind of fish I wanted untill recently when I started reading about Oscars and how much peronality they had.

I have been thinking about putting some plexi glass in between the light and the water, I'm still working on how I could put it in the canopy and still be able to feed the fish. I dont want to pick the canopy up and then pick up a sheet of plexi glass. I was thinking of maybe adding little doors on the front of my canopy. As far as the windex, I'll make sure I clean the tank out really well. I plan on letting everything run for a week before I put Oscars in it.

If you don't want to put little doors in the canopy then just cut the plexiglass an inch or two short in length on the side away from the filter return. Should still keep the ballast dry and you can just drop your food in.

Thats a good idea, I started painting the inside white yesterday, I look and see if I cant make something like that work
