i am so sorry to hear that. i have read all the posts and it is a very sad situation. i hope you can make it through all right and you can salvage whats left. i could only imagine if i lost a fish that i have had for years. there really arent words to express the sorrow i feel for you. good luck with everything
Thank you....
so far all is getting better..all the room is cleaned up with shop vac..have to replace ceiling tiles and get the exploded tank out.. not easy since it is so big.. breaking it apart slowly..once it is out and not reminding me of my loss i will feel better.decided to put 180 or 125gal in its place.. don't want such a big tank anymore. not for awhile..

Great to hear you're having a better afternoon. :)

Well since you have a bigger tank on the way...you can always start again.

I see that you're in NY too...have you looked into getting solar panels to act as a backup power system? I know they have a system that stores the solar energy and if the main power fails it will kick on the backup power thru your original outlets, this way you don't need to run any ext. cords.

The only drawback to solar is the space requirements to store the numerous deep cycling batteries and of course the solar panels themselves. I'm looking into this myself, but on a smaller scale...just to power my tanks and some various appliances/equipment. The good thing is you get a break from the feds and the power companies too. :D

I will look into it thanks..let me know how it works out for you. i am not going to get the bigger tank.. this one was a 220gal that went..i had a 500 gal coming for pacu ..but now that i don't have the pacu i decided to go smaller to 180 or 125gal.. i don't want to take a chance with the bigger tank again.. kind of took the wind out of my sails.. later we will do one more room and get a larger tank for arow..and by then clown knife.. But that room will just have the one tank.. i could have lost all my tanks when this one went.. if it had not broke the glass on the bottom.. the room is too small to take another chance with a bigger tank. thanks !!!
