We got out fishing yesterday, up at Pine Flat reservoir.

Last time I took my wife fishing we had a small accident on the ramp. She fouled the painter on the boat trailer as I was pulling it out of the water, and the keel of the boat smacked the concrete ramp hard enough to break the paracord painter. We took on about a gallon of water in 4 hours, so nothing serious & it didn’t stop us from fishing, but l had to grind and sand & fiberglass some tiny holes in the keel, lay some new glass cloth, epoxy in the glass, and patch the paint.

I also discovered some of my electric connections needed attention after 4 years since assembly. I had a hot connection in the fuse box that was starting to melt the plastic lid. The motor rake was also wrong, and after wedging it up a bit, and tightening up all the cables, the boat runs faster than before.

I finally renamed her. It was long overdue, having been upgraded to 36 volts 3 years ago. I finally scraped off the old name (X-24v) and repainted it.

I also took off my ugly ghetto-looking lime green plastic catch all tray and built this nice one from maple and mahogany. It holds random tackle etc, and secures the wiring.

My mrs got her first fish in two years: a nice native Rainbow trout.

I need to re-make the switch panel for this boat, particularly since I mounted the new fishfinder which is much larger than the old one. The panel on there is made from a bamboo cutting board and it was the switch panel for this boat since It was a gasoline boat 20 years ago.

I’ve got some pretty cool wood to choose from when I make it, So we’ll see if I can put something together before I go fishing again on Monday.

You couldn’t see much snow on the peaks, as it is all gone below 7000 feet.

Charging the X-boat.

I really need to get a 36 V charger.

Hey Ulu Ulu ,
That is some beautiful scenery where you fish. You seem to be pretty handy when it comes to boat maintenance. Good job.

Thank you, and this is the only boat that I’ve ever owned but I spent 25 years fixing it up and changing it around.

I had to make a new instrument panel because the old one was too small for certain things and I took a different approach to my wiring system.

Anyhow this is mahogany and Maplewood scavenged from our old kitchen when we remodeled.

This one also allows more clearance between the motor and the fishfinder and I can stow it completely horizontal now, where previously I could not.

I need to get some more varnish on the deck plywood, but it’s prime fishing weather so that’s gonna have to wait.

We got back out on the water today. First test of the new wiring and switch panel. Also I put the Humminbird on its own battery. Shoulda done that day one. LOL

Everything went great. Here I am out and rigging up to tow home.
